Hello Rat Rod Universe Readers......
---We wanted to add a bit of a history lesson to this gallery of pictures and clarify what this "Sick Rides" section is all about. The clinical definition of "Rat Rod" is this..... *A rat rod is considered by purists to be a pre-1949 American vehicle which has been finished to look like it was fabricated by a 1940's hot rod enthusiast. Body paint is usually absent, or at most, primer or flat black finish. There is little or no chrome and the interior is left unfinished.
---Well, this is all fine and dandy if the purist needs to put a label on it, but we know that labels may not always fit. To us "Rat Rods" are the creative expression of the Hot Rod counter culture. Most of us don't really care about a definition, much less putting a label on it. As a result we created these galleries. "SICK RIDES" are the real crazy stuff. Inspired by the cars from the past (regardless of the definition)....these ones really turn our crank shafts!
